Marianne smiled sadly to the young girl sitting beside her under their usual oak tree. The girl had soulless, glassy eyes that stares ahead; a mouth that doesn't smile nor frown. Her face was pretty and innocent looking like a doll - and in some ways, she was one.

Wisps of blonde hair moved with the flow of the light breeze and the girl still stared ahead to who knows what, maybe the place where her mind took her off.

Marianne stopped what she was doing and leaned forward towards her little sister and tucked the strand of hair behind her ear with a loving smile. The girl with the face void of emotion didn't flinch from her sister's touch, an improvement from before.
The older one went back to the book that was laid on her lap and continued reading it out loud.

"Annie, why do you always read these kind of books? It doesn't even have pictures and is full of words. Isn't it dull?"

Marianne smiled sadly. Oh, when was the last time since she heard that frequently asked question from her sister? Now, little Alice doesn't even smile when Cheshire the Cat purred on her lap, something that would've bring her in a fit of giggles, once upon a time. Once every blue moon, Alice would talk in a droning, monotonous voice. But most pf the time, she rarely makes sense, only spouting short phrases about a place called wonderland and singing a strange song which sounds more like a "twinkle, twinkle little star" parody that focuses more on the whereabouts of a bat.

Marianne wondered what had happened during the time that Alice went missing. It was after she was found that she changed. Alice was no more that imaginative, curious little girl everyone was so fond of at home.

Alice seems to have awaken from her little daydream and stared at her older sister with that same emotionless face. "...Race... Head... Off..."

"Yes, Alice? Is there something you want to say?" Alice then lifted her finger to point to her sister's direction.

"...You will die... at the Caucus Race..." Marianne's smile faltered, running side by side with the shock of Alice's sudden statement, an unknown sense of fear tingled.

"Off with your head... at the end of the Caucus Race."

A/N: I know most of you wouldn't get this but this has been in my drafts folder since forever so I wanted to just post it before it goes all dusty and moldy and wrinkly and... you get the idea.
This story has a more of a Are You Alice? reference, which is a darker theme of Alice in Wonderland. (maybe it's on par with Pandora Hearts. Maybe)

In Are You Alice?'s universe, the Caucus Race is a race made by the Queen of Hearts. People usually think that Wonderland has no exit, but there is. The person will have to find the key to the door. But there are traps that could endanger and kill. It's more complicated than that but nyeeh. HAHA. I'm relieved that I finally posted this one. It's crappy and mindtwisting but isn't writing something psychotic kind of my thing? HAHA.

p/s: damn that first picture was almost exactly like what I had in mind so it kind of gave me goosebumps. Also the fact that "Alice" in the picture captured that emotionless face exactly that it gave me the creeps. Maybe I should stop thinking this way or I'll go insane. -__-"
